Hope in the Dark - Seattle Fine Art Portrait Photography

“The future is dark, with a darkness as much of the womb as the grave.”

― Rebecca Solnit, Hope in the Dark

Amber (the beautiful model below) is taking a class and reading “Hope in the Dark” so I decided it a fitting way to start this blog. I love that quote.

During our shoot and the days surrounding, our hearts and minds were (and still are) with the animals lost and injured in Australia. It was a big topic of conversation during our shoot, and “Hope in the Dark” best describes what we needed to feel, rather than hopeless, lost, sad. We were baffled, terrified, shocked, hopeless, sad, speechless.

What else can we do besides cry ourselves to sleep during such a massive tragedy? We can make art, read books, share information on how to donate or help. We can spread the word of veganism, because the planet needs us now more than ever.

Thank you for making art with me in such a time of sadness Amber, for helping me find hope in the dark.

Places to donate to help Australia, anything helps.
