The Sacred Bond - Sedona Arizona Witchy Photoshoot

WILD WOLF WOMAN

"The wild nature has a vast integrity to it. It means to establish territory, to find one's pack, to be one's own person, to be with mates, to mate, to be, to do, to create, to rear, to die, to be born, to transform, to make one’s cycle over and over again, to howl at the gods, to fight for what one has, to expand territory, to retreat when necessary, to scent and to savor, to howl, to snarl, to snap, to love fully, to protect fully, to nurse, to teach, to play, to rest. Wild Woman and the wolf are both—they are both filled with instinct, guts, and knowing."

In Pagan traditions, wolves are often seen as sacred creatures representing intuition, loyalty, wild freedom, and spiritual guardianship. Many Pagan paths, including Norse, Celtic, and Native spiritual traditions, honor wolves as powerful totems and messengers. Some see wolves as spiritual protectors, guiding souls through the unknown, much like a guardian spirit or a spirit animal.

I met this lovely human and her familiar named Chief on a walk by the creekside in Sedona. Chief came right up to me and let me touch him, and K said that was not like him. Chief is a skittish soul, having been shot once and he is a rescue. These two are a kindred pair, meant to be.

A bond unbroken, fierce and true,
wolf and kindred—me and you,
a whispered vow, a soul’s embrace,
to walk as one through time and space.

The bond between humans and dogs is one of the most ancient and sacred connections in history—a relationship built on trust, loyalty, and unconditional love. This connection is more than just companionship; it is spiritual, emotional, and deeply rooted in our shared evolution.

Humans and dogs have walked side by side for thousands of years, from the wild wolves who first chose to trust humans to the beloved pets who share our homes today. This partnership transcends mere survival—it is a profound bond of mutual understanding.

Dogs in Spiritual & Mythological Traditions

🐕 Anubis (Egyptian Mythology) – The jackal-headed god who guided souls into the afterlife, symbolizing the dog’s role as a spiritual guardian.

🐕 Hecate & Her Black Dogs (Greek Mythology) – The goddess of the crossroads, magic, and the unseen world was often accompanied by dogs, symbolizing their connection to intuition and protection.

🐕 Celtic & Norse Traditions – Dogs were seen as companions of warriors and guides to the afterlife, symbolizing bravery, honor, and loyalty.

“The wild nature carries the bundles for healing; she carries everything a woman needs to be and know. She carries the medicine for all things. She carries stories and dreams and words and songs and signs and symbols. She is both vehicle and destination.”

- WOMEN WHO RUN WITH THE WOLVES

This quote speaks to the wolf as a symbol of the wild, instinctual, and untamed feminine spirit—a force of intuition, resilience, and deep wisdom that society often tries to tame. Estés uses the wolf as a metaphor for the wild woman, urging women to reclaim their power, trust their instincts, and embrace their true nature.

Chief gets really nervous around other humans and we got lucky to have this spot to ourselves for about 30 minutes. We had someone there he trusts to hang with him if he got a little scared. I am so in love with this wolf dog. He is just the most gentle creature. There is a lot of responsibility that comes with these beautiful animals that have a lot of wild in them, and I am just glad he is in the right hands.

I styled K with the dress, cape, and twinkle lights. She found the stick on a walk with Chief and GAVE IT TO ME! Because I am obsessed with it. It currently lives on my wall in my bedroom.
